  1. Well Lawrence, I want to congratulate you on your success in slimming down. As someone who is also working to lose 30 lbs, I'm cutting out a lot of the crap as well. Though I still have soda; I can't help it, I need that daily caffeine fix to get me through the day. But I've made other substitutions and sacrifices.

  2. You're off on a few points here.

Aspartame is harmless unless you have Phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder. Saying that soda contains "chemicals" is meaningless; the water in the soda is a chemical (as is nearly everything in the world), and is by far the most dangerous ingredient. Fructose, including high fructose corn syrup, is not processed by the body any differently then any other sugar. In fact, table sugar is 50% fructose.

However, you are right in that reducing the intake of soda, even diet soda, can aid in weight loss.

  3. Well... Shit. I NEVER knew you were 360 pounds. This is mind boggling! @_@ I've always thought of you as one of the skinniest online personalities I've seen, but this is news. I really have to congratulate you, because losing 200 pounds is no little feat. I'm not really big, (Around the same weight as you now) but I've been really trying to cut down on the crap I eat, and it makes a noticeable difference. Soda is one of the big offenders, and while I still drink soda a lot, I have cut down and feel better because of it. One of my favorites muses yet.

  4. Some doctors argue that if you HAVE to drink soda, regular is better than diet, but of course, it's still bad. I've been dieting and exercising myself, as well as STRUGGLING to cut soda out of my eating habits (lost almost 40 pounds- yay for me ^^)! Haha, but it's still a challenge.

Still, wow, I LOVED this muse! You rock, Sir Lawrence.

    You. Rock.

  6. To ARTHUR WILBORN:
Glucose is the only type of sugar the body can take in to use ~immediately. For example, fructose needs to take a trip to the liver which will then process it into glucose. Thus, fructose takes a while longer to 'kick in'.

This sort of bugged me, as You said that fructose isn't processed any differently than any other sugar. Table sugar is 50 % glucose, too.
